Begin With a Clear Direction
Each game starts with only a few low-value tiles on the board. When you move in one direction, every tile slides as far as possible. Two tiles displaying the same number merge when they meet, creating a new tile with double their value. Combining two 4 tiles produces an 8, two 8 tiles become 16, and the process continues toward larger numbers.
A new tile appears after every valid move. At first, this addition seems harmless because the 6×6 grid contains many open cells. However, those small numbers gradually occupy more space. If they are not combined regularly, they can interrupt your planned sequences and make future moves more difficult.
The opening stage is the best time to establish a preferred direction. Choose a corner for your largest tile and try to keep your movements focused toward that area.
Turn Small Merges Into Chain Reactions
Individual matches help increase your score, but organized chains create stronger progress. Suppose two 16 tiles combine into 32 beside another 32. A second merge can immediately produce 64, clearing more space and moving you closer to a high-value tile.
To prepare these chain reactions, keep related values near one another. A row containing 128, 64, 32, and 16 in descending order is easier to develop than one filled with randomly positioned numbers. Smaller tiles can be merged at the opposite end before joining the larger sequence.

The edges of the board are useful for building stable number sequences. Keeping high-value tiles along one side reduces the chance that they will become trapped between smaller numbers. Your chosen corner can act as the final destination for each completed merging chain.
The center should remain flexible whenever possible. Since central tiles can move in several directions, open cells in this area give you more ways to rearrange a difficult board. Filling the middle with isolated values may block movement between opposite sides.
Try to avoid alternating between all four directions without considering the result. If your largest number sits in the bottom-right corner, upward or leftward moves may disturb its position. Use these directions only when they create enough space or prepare an important combination.
Manage the Board When Space Disappears
The late stage becomes more demanding as empty cells begin to vanish. Before each move, check whether it creates at least one useful follow-up option. A merge that appears valuable may be dangerous if it leaves the remaining numbers unable to connect.
When the board becomes crowded, work on the smallest tiles first. Combining several 2, 4, and 8 tiles can create the space needed to move larger values. Do not focus entirely on one exciting merge while ignoring blocked areas elsewhere.
You should also watch where new tiles may appear. Although their exact positions are not always predictable, preserving several empty cells gives you a better chance of handling an inconvenient placement.
