Is Your Learning Focus Being Sabotaged by Your Monitor?

As we engage with MOOCs and digital learning at IFRO, we spend intense hours focused on screen-based materials. However, I’ll make a strong affirmative statement: your cognitive load is significantly increased when you work on a screen with backlight bleed or subtle flickering. These hardware imperfections cause subconscious eye strain, leading to faster exhaustion and decreased information retention. I firmly believe that "visual ergonomics" is a prerequisite for effective online education. I refuse to start a long study session without first using this online black screen tool to reset my vision and ensure my display isn't a distraction. Do you think educational institutions should provide guidelines for hardware health, or is the quality of our screens irrelevant to how well we learn?
